There are two sandy beaches along the banks of the Songhua River in Harbin’s Songbei district were opened to the public, in a bid to provide more choice for locals and tourists to relax during the summer, according to information released by the government of Songbei district on June 25.
The newly-opened beaches are both in the Sun Island section of the Songhua River, which is an important scenic area of Harbin city.
Shangwusha sandy beach
Shangwusha sandy beach is near the Binzhou Railway Bridge in the east and the Songhua River Road Bridge in the west. It has a total length of 490 meters and an area of 77,882 square meters, including a 32,000 sq m green area, a 21,000 sq m sandy beach and a 24,800 sq m water entertainment area.
Support facilities forthe beach include dressing rooms, foot baths, lifeboats, lifeguards and safety nets. Visitors may also also bring their own tents.
Opening times: 9am to 6pm
Sun Island sandy beach
Sun Island sandy beach is located in the eastern area of Sun Island scenic area, near Binzhou Railway Bridge in the east and Songhua River Cableway in the west. It has a total length of 300 ms and an area of 27,114 sq m. It has a 14,900 sq m beach area and a 12,200 sq m water area.
Support facilities at the beach include dressing rooms, foot baths, lifeboats, lifeguards, safety nets, stores and beach chairs.
Opening times: 9am to 6pm
