The province's iron and steel industry continues to grow by improving its organizational structure, advanced technology, well-equipped and efficient environmental protection and excellent quality.

In 2017, the value added of the province's iron and steel industry reached 242.45 billion yuan ($35.03 billion), decreasing by 3 percent year-on-year and accounting for 18.65 percent of the province's total industry. The prime operation revenue was 1.3 trillion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 26.1 percent and making up 25.1 percent of the province's total industry.

The profits of the iron and steel industry in 2017 totaled 71.44 billion yuan, increasing by 151.22 percent over the previous year and sharing 22.91 percent of the province's total industry.
