NXP Semiconductors and Tianjin Economic-Technological Development (TEDA) inked an investment cooperation agreement worth $8.25 billion to build an AI technology application demo base in TEDA on June 26.

Zheng Weiming, head of the TEDA management committee and Jeff Lees, NXP Semiconductors' vice president, attended the signing ceremony of the Investment Cooperation Agreement regarding the AI Application Demo Zone.

The AI and IoT demonstration project consists of three parts: artificial intelligence, and an IoT application demonstration base, and a technology R&D platform and training base.

By the time of its completion, it will become NXP's most advanced display platform in Greater China, demonstrating NXP and its partners' latest technologies and solutions in AI. Over 2,000 persons are estimated to visit the platform.

The technology research and development platform is set for developing leading AI and IoT technologies.

The practice training base will be used as practical training center of relevant technologies for its customers, partners and college students with numbers estimated at over 500.

With the help of this project, NXP will continue to increase capital and technology investment, continuously update core technologies and products and improve the development level of the bases.

NXP Semiconductors is a Dutch global semiconductor manufacturer headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. It is the world's top chip maker for the auto industry and other areas including AI chips and IoT chips.
