Every city in Southwest China's Guizhou province will be connected with high-speed trains by 2022, announced officials during a press conference held on June 21 to celebrate the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Guizhou has consistently made great efforts to improve its railway infrastructure, especially since the construction of the Guiyang-Guangzhou High-speed Railway in 2008. To date, the province has invested 44.6 billion yuan ($6.48 billion) in railway construction.

As of now, nine regional transportation hubs in Guizhou, including Guiyang, Duyun, Kaili, Anshun, Zunyi, and Tongren have been connected with the national high-speed railway network. The cities of Bijie and Liupanshui are expected to join them this year.

Guiyang has gradually developed into a key high-speed railway link in Southwest China. The city of Xingyi in Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture is expected to be connected with high-speed trains in 2022, when the province will boast nearly 2,000 kilometers of high-speed railway lines.
