Overview of Heilongjiang province

Heilongjiang province is named after its largest river, the Heilongjiang River. Across the river to the north it shares a border of over 3,045 kilometers with Russia. As China's sixth-largest province, Heilongjiang covers 454,800 square kilometers, accounting for 4.7 percent of the nation's total land area. Its GDP reached 1.62 trillion yuan ($235.8 billion) in 2018, up five percent over the previous year.

Location

Heilongjiang enjoys a superior geographic location. As a border province in northeast China, it has convenient prospects for boosting trade with Russia and promoting Far East construction there.

Resource

The province plays a major role in China's agricultural growth. With abundant agricultural resources, the province focuses on such sectors as high-quality and efficient agriculture, husbandry, food processing and agriculture-based services. It also boasts large mineral reserves, and thus has cooperation opportunities with industrial circles in exploration and mining rights and potential in the mineral intensive processing industry.

Ecology

Heilongjiang is one of China's pilot areas for ecological protection. It has worked to create a good investment environment for the ecological economy, and possesses great potential in industries like tourism, health and elderly care, culture and information services, and forestry.
