Customs authorities in the city of Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province said Wednesday that they seized an ivory product weighing 1.13 kg.

Customs officers at the Changchun post office found the suspected item in a postal parcel from Estonia through a CT scan. It was found to be an ivory ornament carved into ancient towers.

The wildlife testing center of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration identified the material of the product as African ivory or Asian ivory, which is prohibited from entering the country.

Further investigation is underway.

China banned all domestic ivory trade at the end of 2017 as part of its commitment to protecting wild animals.
