Guangxi earns 6.5b yuan during Dragon Boat Festival holiday

During the 2019 Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Guangxi received a total of 940,700 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 21.2 percent, with a total tourism revenue reaching 6.5 billion yuan ($937.39 million), a year-on-year increase of 25.7 percent.

Mini-vacation and city tours were favored by tourists during the three-day holiday, such as those for city parks and children's playgrounds. The comfort degree of the tourism experience, the public service facilities, and the environment of tourist destinations were highly prioritized for people choosing where to visit.

During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, cities across Guangxi carried out a series of cultural events, including making zongzi and ciba, shooting arrows, and organizing bonfire parties. The China-Asian International Dragon Boat Race held in Nanning has also been a popular attraction, as it brought a traditional dragon boat competition amidst the roaring sounds of firecrackers, gongs, and drums.

Coastal tourism was another popular choice for tourists in Guangxi. Beihai Sliver Beach received a total of 93,800 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 122.27 percent. Attractions such as Jiangshan Peninsula Tourist Resort, Jingdao Scenic Area, Xiwan Tourist Scenic Area, Paradise Beach, and Shanxin Beach also attracted many tourists to set up tents to camp at seaside. Other popular recreational activities included swimming, fishing, cycling, and fruit picking.

In addition, rural tourism was a way for many tourists in the surrounding cities to relax. Various rural tourist areas and farmhouses in Guangxi launched folk festivals and farming experience activities during the holiday to attract visitors.
