The 2nd China-Japan-Korea Forum on Water Resource Development was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on June 4, with more than 180 experts, as well as corporate and university representatives from the three countries discussing regional environmental governance.

The forum was co-sponsored by: the China Center for International Science and Technology Exchange; the Environmental Science International Center of Saitama-ken, Japan; the Korea-China Science and Technology Cooperation Center; the Guangxi Association for Science and Technology; and the Ecological Environment Department and Water Resources Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The forum provided a strong opportunity for the three parties to learn from each other and served as a fruitful platform for exchanging ideas between experts and technicians of the three countries, demonstrating research and application in water environment technology and the latest achievements in sustainable development of water resources.

Six companies from China, Japan, and Korea, as well as the Guangxi Institute of Hydraulic Research conducted corporate promotion and exchanges on wastewater treatment technologies and water resources protection.

"Guangxi attaches great importance to the protection of the ecological environment and the development and utilization of water resources," said Na Xiang, vice chairman of Guangxi Association for Science and Technology. Guangxi's per capita water resources ranks sixth in the country, but the development and utilization of water resources in Guangxi is only about 15 percent, which shows a large potential for the future. The forum promoted the development of the water resources processing industry and technological innovation in Guangxi through exchanges and interactions.

In the future, experts from China, Japan, and South Korea will visit the hydrological station and related enterprises in Nanning for further communication.
