The most modern hazardous waste integrated treatment center in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, funded by the Inner Mongolia Xinmengxi Environmental Resources Development Company, started operating in the high-tech industries development zone in Alshaa League on May 30.

According to local media reports, the hazardous waste integrated treatment center has received 600 million yuan ($86.92 million) in investment and covers a total area of 200,000 square meters. The first phase of the project has already been completed and started operating. The center can utilize and treat 60,000 tons of hazardous waste annually.

That same day, the Inner Mongolia research center of the National Key Laboratory for Pollution Control and Resource Utilization of Nanjing University, Inner Mongolia's first scientific and technological cooperation platform for hazardous waste, was established in the high-tech zone. The research center will help the treatment center fully integrate its resources, take full advantage of its technology, and focus on researching and carrying out the harmless treatment of hazardous waste.

The treatment center is expected to meet the hazardous waste treatment needs of enterprises in Alshaa's high-tech zone while also providing assistance to the entire western region of Inner Mongolia.
