Yuncheng city's central hospital in Shanxi province transported a patient to Xi'an Tangdu Hospital in neighboring Shaanxi province, using a professional medical rescue helicopter, on May 25.

It was the first rescue flight since Yuncheng Central Hospital launched its air medical rescue service, in cooperation with Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation Co in May 2018.

The patient involved was a 68-year-old male from local Ruicheng county who fell from a height of two meters and landed on his head on May 16, causing a brain contusion and laceration, accompanied by aspiration pneumonia and respiratory failure.

At the request of the family members, the two hospitals and Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation Co decided to use the helicopter to transfer the patient to Xi'an Tangdu Hospital.

The flight crossed over 230 kilometers and took 81 minutes, avoiding ground traffic congestion and a bumpy road trip.

The success of the air medical rescue service marked the implementation of an air-land integrated medical rescue system in Yuncheng city.

Yuncheng Central Hospital will next continue to strengthen its cooperation with leading domestic medical institutions and establish an air-land rescue network to provide comprehensive medical services for the public.
