China-ASEAN Music Festival electrifies Guangxi

The 2019 China-ASEAN Music Festival opened at Guangxi Culture & Art Center in Nanning on May 28, with musicians from the Guangxi Orchestra performing a feast of symphonies under the baton of French conductor Raoul Lay.
In total, 26 boutique concerts, three forums, three folk music classes, a piano contest, a music commentary competition, a symposium on the development of 2021 World New Music Day, and five master music classes are on tap for the festival.
The guest of honor, Indonesia, will host a musical instrument exhibition at Guangxi Folk Music Museum, a Gamelan concert, and a summit.
A total of 256 musicians from 25 countries and regions including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Japan, and South Korea have joined the festival.
The event is one of the most influential music conventions in the country, which is on par with the Beijing Modern Music Festival and Shanghai New Music Week. It is aimed at promoting modern music, while enhancing cultural and artistic exchanges.
