Yulong River Tourist Resort of Guilin's Yangshou county has recently become the first in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to be elevated to national level by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Yulong River is one of the largest rivers in Yangshuo, second only to the Lijiang River. The resort not only boasts picturesque natural scenery, but also offers a wide variety of tourist products and services, ranging from sports, healthcare, and performances to night tours.

Separate to its ranking of tourist attractions, China began granting the "National Resort" title in 2015 to boost the development of resort tourism.

Only popular resorts with a wide-reaching reputation and sound economic revenue can qualify. Leisure entertainment resorts are supposed to receive no less than 200,000 tourists annually, while those focusing on natural environment should receive no less than 10,000 tourists annually.

There are now 30 National Resorts throughout the country. In addition to Yulong River Tourist Resort, the other three entries this year included a mountain resort in Sichuan province, a lake resort in Yunnan province, and a farmland-themed resort in Guangdong province.
