1. China-ASEAN Expo

The China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), which has been held annually in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, since 2004, is an important platform for promoting trade and friendly relations between China and ASEAN countries.

Themed “Jointly building the Belt and Road, drawing a new cooperative vision”, this year’s CAEXPO is slated to be held from Sept 20 to 23, with Indonesia as this year's country of honor. The event is expected to further promote the development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and deepen business cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, in order to forge a community with a shared future for both sides.

China-ASEAN trade maintained strong upward momentum last year, with the total value of bilateral trade rising by 14.1 percent to a record-breaking $587.9 billion. Total investment between the two regions amounted to $205.7 billion, a 22-fold increase from 2004.

2. Nanning International Folk Song Arts Festival

An annual folk festival in the city of Nanning, in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region of China, has been bringing in singers and artists from around the world over the past 20 years to provide a special mix of ethnic customs, international vision and modern style.

Sponsored by the Nanning municipal government, and the Social and Cultural Library Division of the Ministry of Culture, the festival is held every September and has run concurrently with the CAEXPO since 2004. It aims to promote cultural communication and exchanges between China and ASEAN countries.

The splendid Nanning International Arts Festival of Folk Songs, which is a gala show for the inauguration of each CAEXPO, is held annually here, adding to the city’s attraction.

3. China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum

Sponsored by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People's Government, and the Ministry of Natural Resources of China, the China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum and Exhibition has been held annually in Nanning since 2010.

Aiming to promote the development of the mining sector in China and ASEAN countries, the forum has focused on further strengthening high-level exchange projects and promoting cooperation between mining companies on both sides as well as cooperation in training and technology exchanges.

The 15th anniversary of China-ASEAN strategic partnership was marked in 2018, and in recent years the mining sector has been one of the most vital areas of trade and investment cooperation for both sides.

The forum serves as a good platform for both sides to promote various favorable policies for the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and to strengthen exchanges of mining information, as well as playing an important role in training mining talents for ASEAN countries.
