The opening ceremony for Jilin province's Science and Technology Week was held at the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics, and Physics (CIOMP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Changchun, capital of Jilin province, on May 18.

The event corresponds with the National Science and Technology Week, which runs from May 19 to May 26 this year.

More than 600 people, including representatives from the Jilin government, Jilin science and technology department, CIOMP, universities, technology companies, and research institutes, took part in the opening ceremony.

The province's science week is divided into four sections, with an exhibition area showcasing Jilin's technological achievements over the past seven decades, an experience area where visitors can get a taste of health, robotic, aviation, and other types of technology, a science education area where three reports on light will be provided, and an area focusing on Jilin's outstanding science and technology professionals.

An Lijia, vice-governor of Jilin province, said at the ceremony that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the new China, and he encouraged scientific and technical workers from throughout the province to pursue innovation and work to overcome difficulties in technological progress.
