Yulin National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone was founded in February 1999 with the approval of the Shaanxi provincial government and upgraded to a national-level high-tech industrial development by the State Council in August 2012. It covers an area of 28.4 square kilometers.
Located at the northernmost part of Shaanxi province, the zone focuses on new energy, new processing and manufacturing, new materials, biological medicine, modern services and environmental protection industries. It has become a multi-functional and export-oriented comprehensive zone with a mature industrial system of energy chemical engineering, equipment manufacturing and new energy. The zone is a core area for the city’s initiative to develop a national-level base for energy and chemical industry.
In 2017, the turnover of the zone reached 73 billion yuan ($10.85 billion), up 15.87 percent year-on-year. Its GDP achieved 34 billion yuan, up 17.24 percent year-on-year, with industrial output value hitting 43 billion yuan, an annual increase of 13.16 percent, and fixed assets surpassing 5.05 billion yuan, up 94.23 percent year-on-year.
In the first half of 2018, the turnover of the zone reached 34.6 billion yuan, up 16 percent year-on-year. Its GDP recorded 14 billion yuan, an annual increase of 15.25 percent, with industrial output value surpassing 17 billion yuan, up 16.52 percent year-on-year.
