2019 IAAF Race Walking Challenge held in Taicang

The 2019 IAAF Race Walking Challenge kicked off in Taicang, Jiangsu province on May 11, marking the beginning of the qualification trials for the 20 kilometer race of the world championships.

A total of 245 racers from 13 other countries and regions, such as Japan, Australia and Brazil and 130 athletes from China participated in the competition.

They were divided into two groups of adults and youth. The scheduled races include 20 kilometers for adult men and women and races of 10 km and 5 km for younger male and female walkers.

After fierce competition, Wang Kaihua from China ran first in the 20 km for adult men in 1 hour 19 minutes and 48 seconds and the champion of 20 km for adult women was also carried off by Chinese people Qieyang Shijie with a time of 1 hour 28 minutes.

This is the third time for Taicang to organize the top race walking event in the world. The city hosted the Racing Walking World Cup in 2014 and 2018, which is the predecessor of the world race walking championship and takes place every two years.
