Founded in 1950, Guangdong University of Finance (GDUF) is a provincial public undergraduate university and the only financial university in South China.
GDUF recruited the first batch of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students in 2012, recruited the first batch of international students in 2014, and recruited doctoral students together with the University of Nottingham in 2016.

The university consists of two campuses: Guangzhou Campus (Main Campus) and Zhaoqing Campus, occupying an area of 1000mu (66.67 hectares) in total.
The university has a total of 18 departments and colleges, and 32 undergraduate majors, including six disciplines: economics, management, law, art, science and engineering. The financial discipline is the key discipline of Guangdong province and the finance major is a characteristic specialty of the Ministry of Education. The number of the full-time students (undergraduate and graduate) is more than 21,000.

The total number of staff members is more than 1,300, among whom more than 900 are full-time teachers, including approximately 120 professors and more than 230 teachers with doctorates. In addition, many famous domestic and foreign scholars and professional experts are engaged as guest or honorary professors.
Since 2009, the university has initiated and established communication and joint training cooperation with 40 universities, including the University of West Alabama in the U.S, the University of West England in the U.K and the University of West Australia.
