Spot-billed ducks usually fly back to Harbin in late March, much earlier than other migratory birds. They like living in water areas with reeds.

Black-headed gulls are often seen in Harbin in early April as they stop in Harbin to rest and feed before heading further north to areas of China and Russia.

Gray herons usually fly back to Harbin in mid-April. They enjoy perching on trees near reed pools.
