Established in 1932, Guangxi Normal University was one of the earliest higher normal universities in China.
Covering 273.33 hectares, it has three campuses – Wangcheng, Yucai and Yanshan – and 27,000 full-time undergraduates, nearly 6,000 postgraduates, more than 200 doctoral students, and 1,600 overseas students.
Regarded as a bellwether of teachers' education in Guangxi, the university has pushed forward its development as a double-first-class university in China.
The university has 79 majors for undergraduates, and six disciplines for doctorates: Marxist theory, chemistry, Chinese language and literature, pedagogy, software engineering and physical education.
The university has 1,822 full-time teachers, including 940 with advanced technical job titles, and 120 high-level talents at national, ministerial or provincial level. Supported by prominent experts and teachers, the university has achieved remarkable results in education and scientific research, winning a host of honorable tiles, including seven characteristic discipline development centers at State-level, and 1,912 scientific research projects at all levels.
The university has also promoted international exchanges and communication with more than 200 colleges and institutions in 40 countries and regions, and set up three Confucius Institutes and one Confucius Classroom. From 2008 to 2018, 16,000 international students from more than 60 countries studied at the university. In 2018, it established the Vietnam Research Institute, to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with Vietnam, and bolster the integration of China and ASEAN member nations.
