Guangxi University for Nationalities has 19,924 students, 50 percent of whom are from 53 ethnic minorities groups of the Zhuang, Han, Yao, Miao and Dong people. [Photo/gxun.edu.cn]

Guangxi University for Nationalities, which was established in 1952, has three campuses with floor space of 233 hectares with 16,545 full-time undergraduates, 1,625 postgraduates and 628 foreign students.

The university has 26 departments and 79 majors for undergraduates, of which five are authorized by the Ministry of Education as national construction sites of characteristic specialty, and 24 key disciplines at ministerial and provincial level.

It has 1,990 faculty members, including 987 full-time teachers, of whom 305 have obtained doctoral degrees, and 483 have master's degrees.

Centering on scientific and technological innovation, it has conducted 564 national and regional research projects since 2011, and received 232 million yuan ($34.27 million) in research funds, as well as winning 187 awards at or above the ministerial and provincial level.

Over the years, the university has energetically engaged in international cooperation and exchanges, and established partnerships with 157 universities and institutes from 19 countries and regions. It has jointly established Confucius Institutes with Mahasarakham University in Thailand, and the National University of Laos. Moreover, it cooperates with ASEAN countries to popularize Chinese language and culture.
