Linyi University

Founded in 1941, Linyi University has close relations to the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45) and is the only comprehensive university in the Yimeng revolutionary old area. It was given its current name in 2010 under the approval of the Ministry of Education after several removals and mergers, as well several name changes.

The university has four campuses around Linyi city, covering a combined floor area of 1.12 million square meters. The total value of fixed assets has reached 2.5 billion yuan ($362.35 million) while that of the teaching and research equipment was 350 million yuan.

By December 2018, the university had 24 schools and departments, with 83 majors for bachelor degrees, one master's degree program for a first-rank discipline (chemistry), and two authorized master degree specialties (pedagogy and engineering).

The university also cooperated with the Linyi municipal government to set up more than 10 applied collaborative research institutes and over 40 industry-university-research bases, such as Shandong Trade and Logistics Research Institute, Shandong Yimeng Culture Research Institute, and the Institute of Water and Soil Conservation and Environmental Protection.

In the past three years, the university has undertaken 1,550 scientific research projects, including 184 for the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Fund. It has won 411 awards for scientific research at various levels.

To cultivate international talents, the university has reached cooperation agreements with more than 50 universities and colleges in the United States, France, Spain, Russia and South Korea on student exchanges, mutual recognition of credits and cultivating students. It also cooperated with the University of Conakry to establish the first Confucius Institute in the Republic of Guinea.
