Weifang University

Weifang University, located in the World Kite Capital, Weifang, in East China's Shandong province, dates back to the Qingdao Teacher Training School founded in 1951. In 1960, the Qingdao school was merged into Changwei Normal Specialized Postsecondary College. In 2000, Weifang University was established by merging Changwei college and Weifang Junior College with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

The university now covers a combined floor area of 843,000 square meters, and the total value of its fixed assets is 1.93 billion yuan ($279.7 million).

By February 2019, the university had 22 schools and departments, offering a wide range of subjects and disciplines, including science and engineering, liberal arts, economics, management, agriculture, law, history, pedagogy and art.

It hosts two provincial key disciplines, 12 provincial scientific research and innovation platforms, 14 city-level scientific research and innovation platforms, and 56 research institutes, such as the Quantum Information Technology Research Institute, the Energy Conservation Research Institute, and the Weifang Finance Research Institute.

Over the past few years, the university has undertaken more than 80 State-level projects and over 810 at ministerial or provincial level. More than 15,100 papers have been published in domestic and foreign academic journals, of which 2,084 have been included in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and the Engineering Index (EI).

The university attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchanges. To date, it has established academic exchange and cooperation relationships with nearly 70 universities and colleges in more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Britain, France and Australia. Students from more than 30 countries around the world have come to study at the university.
