Jining Medical University

Jining Medical University, founded in 1952, is a provincial general medical school. It has three campuses in Jining and Rizhao cities in Shandong province, covering a total combined floor area of 670,000 square meters, with the total value of teaching and research equipment reaching 190 million yuan ($27.54 million).

By June 2017, the university had 19 schools and departments, with 37 majors for bachelor degrees, covering medicine, science and engineering, management, and the liberal arts. It also has qualification to offer a master's degree specialty in clinical medicine.

The university has two directly affiliated hospitals, 16 indirectly affiliated hospitals, more than 170 practice teaching bases, and 23 community medical practice teaching bases. Its affiliated hospital – Shandong Mental Health Center – is the only 3A-grade (the highest of China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals) mental health hospital in the province.

In the past five years, the university has undertaken 1,180 scientific research projects, including 40 State-level ones and 122 at ministerial or provincial level. Its achievements have won five awards at or above ministerial and provincial level, and 129 awards at bureau level. It has published 2,131 papers, among which 187 have been included in the Science Citation Index (SCI).

The campus has been expanding cooperation and exchanges with overseas educational and medical institutions in recent years. It has established long-term exchange and cooperation relations with more than 10 renowned universities and colleges, hospitals and scientific research institutions all over the world, including Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the United States, the Southbank Institute of Technology in Australia, and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.
