Linyi Foreign Language School is the only full-time public foreign language school in Linyi city qualified to accept foreign students and employ foreign teachers. The school was originally known as Linyi No 6 Middle School, which was founded in 1958.
In July 2012, the school reached a cooperation agreement with the Sino Bright School (SBS) in Canada, becoming SBS's Linyi campus. In August the same year, it obtained qualification to accept foreign students under the approval of the Shandong Provincial Education Department, and it was qualified to employ foreign experts in June 2013.
Covering a combined floor area of 170,000 square meters, the school provides elementary, middle and high school education.
Primary and junior high school students will focus on the Chinese compulsory courses, while some courses used in high schools in the United States are also taught.
Senior high school students will register with the Canadian Ministry of Education and obtain an individual student number. Students who sit for the provincial exam administered by the Province of British Columbia enjoy the same treatment as local students in Canada and can apply for renowned universities around the world free of TOEFL or IELTS English language requirements.
Besides, afterschool activities such as music instrument playing, dancing, calligraphy, and singing are organized to help students develop their personal interests. The school also pays attention to the students' social behavior. By holding military training, overseas summer camps, and social practice activities, the school wants to improve students' self-reliance, independent thinking and ability to work as part of a team.
