The First People’s Hospital of Lianyungang

The First People’s Hospital of Lianyungang, first established in October 1951, has developed into the largest 3A-grade comprehensive hospital in east Xuzhou and Huai’an area.

The hospital is also known as Xuzhou Medical University Affiliated Hospital of Lianyungang and the First Affiliated Hospital of Kangda College of Nanjing Medical University.

It provides medical services for over 8 million patients and has 2,610 patient beds. The hospital covers 445,000 square meters. In 2018, the annual patient number of the outpatient and emergency departments reached 1.41 million and the annual number of discharged patients amounted to more than 96,000.

By the end of 2018, the hospital employed 2,662 people, 554 of whom had senior titles. It has established 57 clinical and medical technology departments and 63 wards. Thirteen clinical departments are approved as provincial key ones while 50 are listed as municipal key clinical specialties.

The hospital has been approved to conduct over 100 new medical techniques such as interventional diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, blood purification, cerebrospinal fluid replacement, hematopoietic stem cell therapy, radiation seed implantation therapy and tumor ablation therapy.

It has carried out international cooperation with prestigious medical institutions from home and abroad such as MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas, Jiangsu Province Hospital, Tsinghua University and Fuwai Hospital Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Beijing.

The hospital owns advanced medical facilities worth 800 million yuan ($118 million) including PET-CT, Siemens dual source CT, DSA, SPECT, a Varian linear accelerator, a neuronavigation system, an ultrasound gastroscope, arthroscopes and thoracoscopes.
