Korean folk painting on display at SXU

A special minhwa exhibition was held at Shanxi University from April 26 and 30.

Minhwa is a type of Korean folk art meant for everyday use or decoration and was popular between the 18th and 20th centuries. It is often produced by itinerant or unknown artists without formal training and adheres to styles, canons, and genres inherited from past generations, representing the mythology, religion, and views of the Korean people.

The exhibition featured 115 minhwa or folk paintings by 113 artists from South Korea, offering Chinese people a glimpse into the artistic culture of the country and enhancing artistic communication between China and South Korea.
