Huai'an First People's Hospital

Huai’an First People’s Hospital, also known as the Affiliated Huai’an No 1 People’s Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, is a large 3A-grade comprehensive hospital founded in December 1948.

The hospital covers 132,500 square meters and a structure area of 204,000 sq m. Currently the hospital has 2,800 patient beds.

The annual patient number for outpatient and emergency departments reached 1.76 million in 2018, and 112,400 patients were discharged in that period. A total of 48,300 surgical operations were performed in 2018.

By the end of 2018, the hospital employed 3,115 staff members, 442 of whom had senior titles. The hospital has 10 provincial key clinical specialties such as hematopathology, general surgery, medical oncology, medical imaging, neurosurgery and cardiothoracic surgery. Fifteen of the hospital’s specialties are listed at municipal key level including gastroenterology, medical laboratory, orthopedics, otolaryngology, gynecology, emergency medicine, pathology and immune rheumatology.

The hospital is also equipped with advanced medical equipment such as a PET/CT, a linear accelerator, a digital gastrointestinal machine, a medical molecular sieve oxygen system and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy.

In addition, the hospital has attained great importance by carrying out international cooperation and communication. It has formed friendships with prestigious medical schools from home and abroad including University of Michigan, Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University.
