Xuzhou No 1 People’s Hospital, affiliated to Xuzhou Medical University, was set up in 1935 and has become a 3A-grade comprehensive hospital offering medical treatment, training, scientific research and public benefit with great influence in Xuzhou and Huaihai Economic Zone.

Covering 42,000 square meters, the hospital has a structure area of 72,000 sq m with 1,200 beds. The hospital has 30 inpatient wards, 43 clinical departments, 12 medical laboratories, three research institutions and 14 teaching and research offices.

As a prestigious hospital in Xuzhou, the hospital has four provincial key clinical specialties–ophthalmology, stomatology, neurology and obstetrics–and 37 municipal key level clinical specialties such as orthopedics, pediatric, anesthesiology, medical oncology, nephrology and cardiology.

Currently the hospital employs 2,044 staff members, 454 with senior titles. It also has three experts enjoying national government allowances. It has more than 300 pieces of advanced medical equipment and has undertaken emergency and critical medical treatment of patients in Jiangsu, Shandong, Anhui and Henan provinces.

In addition, as a Red Cross hospital, it has devoted great efforts in helping poor disabled people recover their sight. Over 11,000 patients have benefited from these efforts.

The hospital also carries out international communication and cooperation with countries such as the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Australia and Thailand.

The construction of a new campus was started in 2015. The new campus is expected to cover 14 hectares with a structure area of 390,000 sq m and 2,500 beds. The new campus will be put into operation in 2019.
