Guangxi event promotes local IoT industry

The Launching Ceremony of Guangxi IoT (internet of things) Industry Alliance was hosted in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on April 18. Among the nearly 1,500 attendees were representatives of domestic internet giants, including Alibaba and Huawei.

Sponsored by Guangxi branch of China Unicom, the conference was designed to help boost the progress of the area's IoT industry, as well as help internet firms in the region establish new links to boost regional IoT projects, enabling them to make a greater contribution to the development of Digital Guangxi.

With a theme of "New Economy of China Unicom, Smart and New Guangxi", the conference was divided into four parts, with one main meeting and three sub-forums discussing smart cities, intelligent manufacturing and 5G intelligence.

Industry leaders discussed how alliance members were using their links to help each other develop, and how they were contributing to the growth of smart city technology, manufacturing and new energy vehicles.

Li Guangju, general manager of the government and enterprise business division of China Unicom, stated that the firm will cooperate with Guangxi government to create a new generation of IT development guidelines centering on the progress of smart city technology, intelligent transportation and smart manufacturing, in order to build an IoT ecosphere and drive the development of Guangxi's new economy.
