Jinan Blood Center, located in Jinan, Shandong province, was founded in 1965 and got its current name in 2007.
It is a public heath institution approved by the municipal government and directly administered by the municipal health and family planning commission.
The center organizes the recruitment of blood donors, blood collection and preparation, clinical blood supplies, guidance on medical blood usage, and blood storage quality control.
It supplies blood to more than 70 clinical medical institutions in Jinan, including municipal hospitals, county and district hospitals, hospitals affiliated to factories and enterprises, private hospitals and 11 provincial hospitals.
It also provides medical institutions with leukocyte-depleted whole blood, leukocyte-depleted suspended red blood cells, washed red blood cells, frozen-thawed glycerol-depleted red blood cells (Rh blood), leukocyte-depleted platelets, virus-inactivated plasma, cold precipitation and other blood products.
The blood center provides technical consultations on clinical blood transfusions, identification and combination of rare blood, neonatal hemolytic disease detection, prenatal blood antibody screening, platelet antibody identification and cross matching, and identification of Rh negative blood.
