The Shenzhen University General Hospital is fully funded and built by the Shenzhen municipal people's government. It is an internationally renowned and domestic first-class research hospital integrating medicine, teaching, scientific research and health management, and is the first affiliated hospital of Shenzhen University.

The total hospital covers an area of nearly 90,000 square meters, with a total planned number of 2,000 beds, which will be constructed in two phases. The first phase of the project was completed in September 2017 with a construction area of 140,000 square meters and 800 beds. The second phase of the project has already reached the planning stage, and there are plans to add an inpatient building and a teaching and research building that can accommodate 1200 beds.

The hospital has attracted and integrated a large number of high-quality medical resources from at home and abroad, and formed a high level medical team led by medical discipline leaders and outstanding young doctors. As of September 2018, more than 850 employees have been hired.

The hospital was officially opened on June 27, 2018, with 22 clinical departments and eight medical technology departments. The inpatient department opened from August to September last year.
