Three-time Ironman World Champion Craig Alexander underlined his dominance in the men's pro, while reigning champion Agnieszka Jerzyk prevailed in the women's pro category at the 2019 Ironman 70.3 Liuzhou on April 14.

An Ironman 70.3, also known as a "Half Ironman," is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation. Participants have to compete in a 70.3 mile race, which consists of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile run.

The Liuzhou event is the opening race of the 2019 Ironman China Tour. Nearly 1,000 competitors from 48 countries and regions braved the spring rain to compete for the 25 spots available for the 2019 Ironman World Championship, and 50 entrance tickets to the 2019 Ironman 70.3 World Championship.

Alexander noted that there was strong wind on the match day last year and heavy rain this year. However, different weather conditions are part of the competition. He especially enjoyed his second running lap, as the safe lead he amassed gave him more time to take in the fascinating sceneries in Liuzhou.
