Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2003, Chifeng University in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region was created through the merging of several local colleges.
The university covers an area of 1,112 mu (74.1 hectares) and has a total of 1.04 billion yuan ($155.5 million) in assets, with its teaching and research equipment being worth 152 million yuan. It is also equipped with all kinds of state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, including professional laboratories, a computer center, a sports stadium, multimedia halls, a museum, and a theatre. The library has a collection of 1.208 million books, as well as 616,000 electronic books and 33 Chinese and foreign language and literature databases.
The university currently has 13,123 full-time students and 107 foreign students from 12 countries, including the United States, Senegal, and Ukraine. The university offers bachelor’s and master’s programs in fields related to economics, art, management, and medicine. The university’s top majors are construction environment and energy application engineering (heating and gas supply), stomatology, clinical medicine, and traditional Mongolian medicine.
The university employs 991 professionals, with four members of staff enjoying a special allowance from the State Council, one named a Mater of Chinese Arts and Crafts, and two named “experts with outstanding contributions” by the government of the autonomous region.
With a focus on educational reform, Chifeng University is devoted to cultivating virtuous talents and building itself into a technological and cultural innovation center in mid-eastern Inner Mongolia.
