Founded in 1960, Maoming People's Hospital is a large 3A-grade hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. The hospital covers an area of 100,000 square meters. It currently has 2,300 employees, including nearly 400 holding senior titles, more than 100 with doctorates and master’s degrees, and about 40 master’s tutors.

The total number of outpatient clinics in the hospital has exceeded 1.3 million and the number of inpatients has exceeded 90,000, with the annual operation volume hitting more than 30,000. The hospital has 2,400 open beds in total. It has set up 96 departments, including provincial key clinical specialties and superior specialties like reproductive medicine and osteosurgery.

The hospital also has several characteristic medical centers and institutions, such as the Hand Surgery Treatment Center jointly established with the University of Hong Kong, the Reproductive Medicine Center, the Prenatal Diagnosis Center, the National Collaborative Network Collaboration Center for Early Gastric Cancer Screening Research, the Maoming Precision Medicine Center, the Chest Pain Center, a designated medical institution for hemophilia in Maoming, a hearing diagnosis center and more.

Maoming People's Hospital also focuses on medical technology, introducing advanced concepts and technologies both at home and abroad. The diagnosis and treatment technology has gradually been integrated with international and domestic leading standards, and successfully carried out a number of technical projects, including lung transplantation surgery, bypass surgery and minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
