Meizhou People's Hospital is a national 3A-grade hospital, providing services for more than 20 million people in Meizhou, Heyuan, Jieyang, Luxi and Weinan. It ranks 24th among prefecture-level city hospitals across the country.

The hospital has 113 clinical medical technology departments and 12 medical centers. It has 11 provincial key clinical specialties, one provincial medical specialty and 21 municipal medical key specialties. It is a national chest pain center, heart failure center, atrial fibrillation center, and comprehensive stroke center.

The hospital has formed a medical technology system featuring endoscopy, intervention, and precision medicine. In 2018, there were 46,300 inpatient surgical operations, 8534 cases of interventional procedures, and the rate of operation in the third and fourth grades of the hospital reached 54.9 percent.

The hospital has one provincial key laboratory and two provincial engineering technology research centers. It undertakes a number of national, provincial and ministerial research projects, and has repeatedly won the city's scientific and technological progress award. It has also published more than 1,200 papers in medical journals. The hospital now has 3,762 employees, among which 273 have a master's degree or above, 393 have senior titles and 623 have intermediate titles.

In 2018, the total number of treatments in the hospital reached 1.78 million. Approximately 138,000 patients were discharged, including 78,800 critically ill patients, accounting for 56.9 percent of the total. 

The hospital has outstanding research and application capabilities in precision medicine. It is one of the earliest prefecture-level hospitals in the country to establish a precision medical research center. The hospital completes 300,000 high-quality genetic tests every year, focusing on research into the fields of cardiovascular issues, oncology, genetic diseases, reproductive medicine, and immunology.
