Founded in 1965, Dongguan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital has two campuses, including the general hospital and Guancheng branch, as well as three outpatient departments. The hospital has established affiliated institutions such as Dongguan Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dongguan Institute of Geriatrics and Prevention, and Dongguan Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. It is also working to establish the Dongguan National Medical Center and the Dongguan Orthopedics Laboratory. 

The hospital has 1,288 beds. The annual number of emergency patients is nearly 1.6 million and the number of discharged patients is nearly 40,000 per year. The hospital has 1,550 employees and 462 practicing doctors, including 301 practitioners of Chinese medicine, and 350 professional technicians, accounting for 59% of medical personnel.

The hospital attaches great importance to development of disciplines, having set up 27 clinical inpatient departments, including 10 in internal medicine and seven in orthopedics. 

The hospital has one traditional Chinese medicine master inheritance studio, three national Chinese medicine experts’ inheritance studios, two Guangdong famous Chinese medicine inheritance studios, nine Dongguan Chinese medicine inheritance studios, and several other TCM projects. The hospital also focuses on the development and research of Chinese medicine, with 31 varieties of Chinese medicine preparations available there.
