Paraphernalia attesting to how the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) arose from dream to marvel were donated to the Zhuhai Museum & Urban Planning Exhibition Hall on April 8.

The Bridge Authority donated 105 items, including uniforms, helmets, shoes, and lifejackets worn by bridge workers; fresh-water formworks, vibrating rods, and dolosse models used in the undersea tunnel; pulleys, welding electrode heat-insulation boxes, an ohmmeter, and locking pliers employed in the transport engineering system; and shovels, flags, and billboards.

Of note are core samples from the Pearl River estuary. They are a product of orogeny from the Yanshan Range of the North China Plain. Tens of millions of years old, they are still geologically "young," and are "brothers in age " of Mt Everest (Chomolungma Peak) in the Himalayas.

They will be exhibited at the modernistic building on Central Lovers Avenue, Xiangzhou, at future dates.

The world's longest sea crossing, the 55-km (34-mile) HZMB connects the mainland directly by roadway to Hong Kong and Macao. It has been called the "Seventh Wonder of the World" for its huge construction scale, unprecedented construction difficulties, and top construction technology.

The bridge opened to traffic on Oct 23, 2018 to strengthen trade, financial collaboration, logistics, and tourism in the region.
