A delegation from Northeast China's Jilin province, led by Party chief Bayanqolu, visited Uganda on April 3.

Yoweri Museveni, president of Uganda, met with the delegation and spoke highly of China's historic achievements.

Museveni expressed gratitude for China's strong support for Uganda and said that Uganda is willing to deepen cooperation with China and take part in the Belt and Road.

Bayanqolu said that Jilin province hoped to cooperate in carrying out projects related to the Belt and Road Initiative and strengthen cooperation in agriculture, poverty relief, and industrial parks.

Bayanqolu also met Edward Ssekandi, vice president of Uganda, during the visit. They attended a China (Jilin)-Uganda economic and trade meeting together.

Bayanqolu said that Jilin attaches great importance to economic and trade cooperation with Uganda, and that bilateral trade, contract work, and investment cooperation between the two areas have grown rapidly in recent years.

The Party chief hoped to broaden cooperation with Uganda in infrastructure, agriculture, automobiles, petrochemical engineering, engineering construction, processing of agricultural products, exploitation of energy resources, and a number of other key fields.

Ssekandi expressed a high opinion of China-Uganda relations, and agreed to build closer economic, trade, and cultural ties with Jilin.

Bayanqolu and Ssekandi also presided over the signing of a number of cooperative projects between the two parties, including a Uganda-based electricity industrial park to be built by Jilin and a $10-million garment factory funded by the Jinlin Tian Yu Apparel Co.
