The Ministry of Education has granted approval to a Xiangzhou educational project related to cultural integration between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, while designating the district as a pilot zone of sustainable educational development.

The project won high praise at the Research and Experiment of Green and Sustainable Educational Development seminar hosted by the National Center for Education Development Research in Zhuhai on March 31.

Xiangzhou, the central downtown of Zhuhai, borders Macao to the south and faces, across water, Hong Kong to the east. The unique geographical location endows it unparalleled advantages for conducting academic exchanges with them.

The district intends to pioneer an inclusive curriculum integrating the culture of the three regions against the backdrop of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This will be achieved over three stages: contact, collision, and then integration.

The first stage will involve the establishment of sisterhood relations between schools, the conduct of fellowship activities, and the launch of collaborative teaching and research programs. Many ideological, technical, and cultural differences are expected to appear in the process, and the purposed curriculum will take form after the research, discussion, screening, and self-improvement is completed in the second stage, as well as through multi-party salons and roundtable meetings that are conducted in the end.

In addition, two annual summits regarding the subject will also be held in 2020 and 2021.
