The China Jilin-Finland Economic and Trade Cooperation Symposium was held in Changchun, Jilin province, on March 28. Jing Junhai, acting governor and deputy governor of Jilin province, and Jarno Syrjälä, Finnish ambassador to China, both attended the event.

Speaking at the meeting, Jing welcomed the Finnish delegation to the province and outlined the history of economic ties between both parties, highlighting some of the main achievements from bilateral cooperation.

In addition, he argued that the symposium could play a big role in promoting bilateral trade contacts, creating a more business-friendly environment, as well as spawning high-level diplomatic ties.

Syrjälä said that the two have a lot in common such as climate and environment, despite their geographical distance. On behalf of his government, the ambassador expressed Finland's willingness to explore new areas of potential cooperation, such as in ice and snow sports, energy, the internet of things, and artificial intelligence.

Jilin province is located in the geographical and geometric center of Northeast Asia, allowing it to play an important role in foreign trade and China's Belt and Road Initiative.
