Nanning issues electronic citizen cards

Nanning launched its electronic citizen cards on March 28, which integrate the functions of personal identity validation, as well as electronic vouchers and payment.

The cards can be applied from mobile phone apps including WeChat (微信), Yongcheng Citizen Pay (邕城市民宝), Chuxing Nanning (出行南宁), and Inanning (爱南宁). They can be used for paying bus fares upon recharge. Locals only need to display the QR codes, which enjoy the same 10 percent discount as physical cards.

To date, Nanning has released more than 3 million physical cards. They will next be supplemented by electronic ones in more application scenarios, such as for subways, said Chen Wei, president of Nanning Citizen Card Information Service Co Ltd.
