Dalian: A welcoming haven for offshore boat fishing

Dalian is one of the most popular cities in China for offshore boat fishing. 

Offshore boat fishing, sometimes called deep sea or open water fishing, is fishing in deep water, more than 30 meters, and at some distance from land. As a sport, it is increasingly favored by people because of its stimulating expansive views and substantial catches.

Dalian is northeast China's largest port, located in the southern tip of Liaodong Peninsula, nearing the Bohai Sea to the west and the Yellow Sea to the east. Facing the boundless Pacific Ocean, Dalian enjoys picturesque scenery and a pleasant climate, with the annual average temperature between 8.4 C and 10.5 C.

Dalian is also a famous tourist city and one of the most popular cities in China for offshore boat fishing. Surrounded by mountains, islands, reefs, and clear water, more than 30 kinds of fish, including greenlings, mullet, weever, plaice, eels, and black snappers can be found here.

Offshore boat fishing has always been one of the most popular traditional leisure activities in Dalian. According to statistics, Dalian now has more than 30,000 people that choose to head out to sea for fishing on weekends and holidays, as long as the weather permits. The best time for fishing in Dalian is between the Qingming Festival and the Winter Solstice Festival.
