Subsidies expected to attract more talents

Zhuhai has proposed some new draft policies, including providing subsidies of 26,000 yuan ($3,892) to 350,000 yuan to technical talents, technicians, full-time undergraduates, and postgraduates who have recently moved to the city.

The measures have been published online and are currently soliciting opinions from the public. Opinions are welcome through March 29.

Zhuhai intends to offer rent and living subsidies of 8,000 yuan to full-time postgraduate students and 26,000 yuan to full-time undergraduates who meet certain requirements.

Grants of 350,000 yuan and 250,000 yuan will be offered to technical talents with senior and deputy senior professional titles, respectively. Those with medium-level professional titles will be offered 38,000 yuan.

Senior technicians who meet the requirements will be eligible for 38,000 yuan in housing and living subsidies, while ordinary technicians will be eligible for 26,000 yuan.

All subsidies will be paid in two installments over two years.

The subsidies are meant to augment the Zhuhai Talent Program introduced last April. The most generous policy package in Zhuhai's history, it promises 6.7 billion yuan in rewards, subsidies, and preferential treatment to talents over the course of five years.
