In 2016, investment in highway construction in Inner Mongolia reached 91.5 billion yuan ($13.29 billion), with a total length of 0.19 million km built, including 5,153 km of express highways, 6,685 km of class I highways and 16,912 km of class II highways.
Cities in Inner Mongolia such as Hohhot, Baotou, Ordos, Hulunbuir, and Wulanchabu all have main railway stations.
By the end of 2016, the autonomous region was home to 21 airports. The passenger throughput had reached 17.99 million, with cargo throughput reaching 74,916 tons.
