Founded in 1998, Da'erbin Lake National Forest Park is located in Orgon Autonomous Banner, the southeastern part of Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It is a great holiday resort for scientific research, outdoor adventure, ecological tourism, and summer vacations.
The park covers about 22,000 hectares, composing of four main tourist attractions: Da'erbin Lake; Shenzhi (Golden Finger) Canyon, the only canyon in the Great Hinggan Mountains; Shihai wetlands; and Tianchi (Heaven Lakes) at Sifang Mountain. Its forest coverage ratio is up to 75.3 percent.
Da'erbin Lake covers an oval area of 15 square kilometers with a depth of more than 10 meters. The lake is surrounded by dense forest, as well as various flowers. A total of 533 varieties of plants and 156 kinds of wild animals can be found near the lake, including pheasants, red-crowned cranes, woodpeckers, and white swans, winning it the reputation of a "natural park."
Every May, the park is decorated by blossoming red azaleas, which perfectly integrates with its unique local scenery of white snow and green trees, attracting numerous visitors from home and abroad.
In ancient times, the park used to be a sea. At the end of Carboniferous, due to the strenuous movements of the earth's crust, as well as the volcanic eruption and wind erosion, the place transformed to its current appearance.
