People in Guangxi enjoy eating rice dumplings, which are also called zongzi, during Spring Festival, either buying them or preparing them at home. Pillow-shaped dumplings are made of glutinous rice and fillings with all kinds of flavors depending on the ingredients like ham, braised pork, salted egg yolk, chestnut, fragrant mushrooms, barbecued pork, and the ubiquitous red bean paste. These fillings are wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves, and people can eat them in different ways like steaming them or frying them with different sauces.
