Huizhou looks to build brand as film, TV center

Huizhou in South China's Guangdong province, which has long been known for its natural attractions, is working hard to improve its film and television industry and give it a global appeal.

"The development outline for the Greater Bay Area, which was released on Feb 18, is not only the blueprint for the bay area, as there is also a blueprint for the cultivation of film and television talents across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao", said Zhang Jiaming, president of Golden Rose Media Group, in a recent interview. Zhang has been preparing to build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film and Television Center and believes that the integration of tourism, culture and film will help boost Huizhou's tourism industry.

Early last December, Golden Rose Media Group, the Guangdong Motion Picture Industry Association, the Movie Producers & Distributors Association of Hong Kong, and the International Micro-Cinema Association of Macao signed cooperation agreements at the Luofushan Film and TV Cultural Industry Center in Huizhou to build the film and television center.

A film school is being introduced at the center, and there are plans to develop it into a respected institution dedicated to cultivating professional film and television talents.
