3. Ecological environment protection

The ecological restoration and protection of the south slope of Daqing Mountain and the construction of Yanhuang ecological corridor will be promoted.

Groundwater over-exploitation in Hohhot, Baotou and Ordos will be controlled. Environmental assessments of new projects, especially those within 2 kilometers of the Yellow River, will be reviewed strictly.

A coordinated environmental protection mechanism which includes environmental access, pollution control, and environmental supervision and management, will be improved. A joint control mechanism to protect surface drinking water in the Yellow River Basin and other major rivers running through the area will be launched.
