A promotional tourism seminar for Haikou took place in Nanning, capital of Guangxi, on March 3.

Thousands of people, including tourism insiders, journalists, online celebrities, and Nanning residents, participated in the event.

Mai Weiwen, secretary general of the Haikou Association of Travel Agencies, drew a vivid picture of Haikou as a tropical tourist paradise filled with sunny beaches and blue waters. He showed promotional videos and a Power Point presentation, which were effective in capturing the audience's attention.

Feng Honghao, deputy mayor of Haikou, encouraged the people of Nanning to visit Hainan and expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with Nanning.

Both located in the Beibu Gulf Urban Cluster, Haikou and Nanning would benefit from cooperating in areas such as tourism, commercial logistics, and cultural development.

In recent years, Haikou and Nanning have been collaborating by interconnecting enterprises along Beibu Gulf ports and carrying out regular exchanges between the two cities' top leaders, which has given momentum to the development of the cities.

Zhang Qi, Party secretary of Haikou, said that in order to enhance its influence and reputation, Haikou must deepen cooperation with cities along the Beibu Gulf in freight shipping, tourism, agriculture, and transportation and with countries involved in the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

Since the second half of 2017, Haikou has arranged seven promotional seminars in key port cities throughout the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, such as Guangxi's Nanning and Guangdong's Zhanjiang, to improve intercity cooperation.
