The second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Health Cooperation Conference was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong province on Feb 25, 2019. Over 800 representatives, scholars, and experts from government authorities, universities, academic institutions, and firms gathered at the conference to share thoughts and ideas for the development of health cooperation in the Greater Bay Area.
Topics discussed included medical professional training, scientific innovation in healthcare, application research of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), medical management mechanism reform, and health services development.

Xu believes that the Greater Bay Area has great potential in medical innovation and he gave a positive view of the future prospects in the area's medical integrated development. In detail, the integrated development of medicine and education will help cultivate more top medical professionals in the area, the integrated development of medicine and innovation will help strengthen exchanges and cooperation in medical research, and the sharing of medical resources makes it possible to jointly deal with the challenges of rapid population growth and an aging population.
